The Gruffalo Talk for Writing in P3H
What an exciting start we have had to our Talk for Writing unit within Literacy. Our lessons were all based around the famous Julia Donaldson story, The Gruffalo.
We enjoyed listening to the story and then had ample opportunity to reinact the story using puppets, masks in outdoor learning, we programmed the Beebot to visit the characters in the correct order and then as a class we made our own story map so that we could become confident story tellers.
Our unit focused on adjectives and rhyming words. We recorded adjectives to describe the Gruffalo and used these to create a piece of independent writing. We matched rhyming words from the text and thought about questions to ask the Gruffalo when we ‘Hot Seat’ him.
In Activity Based Learning, we had the chance to read recipes, measure ingredients and then make our very own Gruffalo Crumble…..Yum!
We are so excited about the lessons we are yet to do.
