Throughout all of the subjects we study in Primary 3, we are trying to develop the children’s Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities. Every Friday in P3D we carry out open-ended mathematical investigations. Pupils are encouraged to think up their own strategies for carrying out tasks and, at the end of the sessions, to assess how effective these strategies were. The first of these photographs show the class designing different buildings using multi-link cubes and recording their designs on squared paper. Another important aspect of TSPC is learning how to work and play cooperatively with a partner, and here we are having great fun and reinforcing our counting skills playing our “Bags of Money” game with our friends.
