In Miss Davidson’s P3 classroom we have really been enjoying our September numeracy investigations.
Have you ever wondered how they count the colours of the Smarties in each tube at the sweetie factory? Well, P3D discovered that they don’t - they simply weigh the chocolate in each packet. In our lesson we counted, tallied and produced block graphs of our findings and then, best of all, we got to share out and eat the Smarties, with well washed hands, of course!
In another investigation, we set to work measuring our class skeletons using all types of equipment such as pencils, art straws and unifix cubes. It took a very long time but we learned a lot about measuring carefully and accurately, and about working well as a team.
